Search Airdrie listings→Airdrie sits directly north of Calgary's city limits along the Queen Elizabeth II Highway (Highway 2), the main route between Calgary and Edmonton. Driving to downtown Calgary typically takes 30 to 40 minutes outside peak hours; Calgary International Airport is closer still, off Highway 2 at the city's north edge. Within Airdrie, Veterans Boulevard (Highway 567), Yankee Valley Boulevard and 8th Street are the main east, west and north, south routes. Airdrie Transit runs local routes plus the ICE (Intercity Express) service into Calgary, which connects to Calgary Transit's LRT network.
Airdrie's neighbourhoods are largely organised around a central spine of older streets and a ring of newer communities. On the west side: Coopers Crossing, Windsong, Southwinds, Hillcrest and Chinook Winds. In the north: Reunion, Williamstown, Sagewood and Prairie Springs. To the east: Kings Heights, Ravenswood and Lanark Landing. Bayside and Canals are built around a canal system with pathways along the water, and Woodside surrounds a golf course. Midtown and the original downtown blocks along Main Street hold Airdrie's oldest housing stock.
Nose Creek Regional Park runs through the centre of the city and hosts the Airdrie Festival of Lights each December. Genesis Place is the city's main recreation complex with pools, arenas, a fieldhouse and fitness facilities; Chinook Winds Regional Park adds a spray park and skate park on the west side. Iron Horse Park operates a miniature railway on summer weekends. Shopping is concentrated along Main Street, Yankee Valley Boulevard and the Sierra Springs and Kingsview areas, with CrossIron Mills, a large regional mall, a few minutes south in Balzac.
Public schools in Airdrie are operated by Rocky View Schools, and Catholic schools by the Calgary Catholic School District. Francophone education is available through Conseil scolaire FrancoSud. School catchments and programs (French immersion, sports academies, and so on) change from year to year, so check the current designated school for any specific address with the division directly.
Because most of Airdrie was built after 2000, the housing stock skews to newer detached homes on suburban lots, with a growing share of townhomes and low-rise apartment condos, particularly in the newer west and north communities. Older bungalows and split-levels from the 1970s and 1980s are found closer to downtown. Current listings, with photos and prices, update live on the MLS® search below.
