What to know about Legacy.

01
Where it is and getting around

Legacy sits at the southern limit of Calgary, east of Macleod Trail and south of 210 Avenue SE, with Walden to the north and the Bow River valley to the east. Macleod Trail runs along its western edge for a direct route north through the south end of the city; Stoney Trail is a few minutes north for the ring road and Deerfoot Trail. Downtown is roughly 30 to 40 minutes by car depending on traffic. Calgary Transit bus service connects to the Somerset-Bridlewood LRT station on the Red Line; there is no LRT station in the community.

02
The environmental reserve and pathways

Roughly 300 acres along Legacy's eastern side is a developer-protected environmental reserve of aspen forest and slopes above the Bow River valley, and it will remain undeveloped. About 15 km of paved pathways run through the community, past two storm ponds, a dozen playgrounds, ball diamonds and a community garden. The Legacy Residents Association maintains enhanced landscaping, fountains and community events, funded by an annual fee registered against each property.

03
Township and everyday shopping

Legacy has four commercial sites. Township, on the Macleod Trail side, is the largest, with a Sobeys grocery store, Winners, restaurants, fitness studios, a veterinary clinic and pet stores among more than 20 businesses; Legacy Grove, Legacy Corner and Legacy Village add coffee, gas, dental and medical offices, childcare and banking closer to the homes. Seton's Urban District, with the South Health Campus hospital, a Cineplex and more retail, is about ten minutes east via Stoney Trail.

04
Schools

All Saints High School (Calgary Catholic School District, grades 10 to 12) opened in Legacy in 2018 and is the community's one operating school. The Calgary Catholic School District is building a K-9 school in the community with a target opening of 2026, and the Calgary Board of Education has planning funding for a Legacy middle school; sites are also reserved for a public elementary school. Until schools open, younger students are bused to designated schools in nearby communities. Confirm the current designation for a specific address with the board.

05
Housing

Legacy's housing dates from 2013 onward and is still being built, so new construction and early-phase resale exist side by side. Detached homes range from laned homes on narrower lots to front-garage two-storeys and, in The Woods section beside the reserve, larger estate lots; duplexes, townhomes and apartment condominiums sit near the commercial sites and main roads. Architectural guidelines have been enforced across phases, which is why the streetscapes look consistent. Current listings update live on the MLS® search above.

Sources and notes. Community details are summarised from City of Calgary community profiles, developer and residents'/homeowners' association websites, Calgary Board of Education and Calgary Catholic School District websites, Alberta Health Services, YMCA Calgary and Calgary Transit information; they change over time, so confirm current facts (including any mandatory association fee, and the designated school for a specific address) directly with the source before relying on them. Prices are not stated on this page; current listings and recent sales are in the live MLS® search. This page is general information, not advice about any specific property.

Your REALTOR®

"Legacy's buyers are choosing a finished-looking community that is still ten years from complete. The questions to ask are what is planned on the empty parcels nearest the lot, and when."
