Deerfoot Trail gives direct access north to downtown; Stoney Trail is a few minutes east. Calgary Transit routes connect to the Somerset. Auburn Bay Lake, about 43 acres, is a stocked freshwater lake with a sandy beach, docks and non-motorised boating in summer and skating in winter. Auburn House, the residents' facility on the shore, includes a gymnasium, party rooms, tennis courts, a splash park and a playground, and runs seasonal programming. Access is through the Auburn Bay Residents Association; the annual fee applies to every property in the community and is registered on title. Confirm the current amount before purchasing.
Auburn Station, at the community's south edge, has groceries, restaurants and services. The Seton district immediately south adds the South Health Campus hospital, the Brookfield Residential YMCA (one of the largest YMCAs in the world by floor area), the Seton branch of the Calgary Public Library, a cinema and large-format retail. Fish Creek Provincial Park and the Bow River pathway are a short drive west.
The Calgary Board of Education operates Auburn Bay School (elementary) in the community; the Calgary Catholic School District operates Prince of Peace School nearby. Middle and high school designations are to schools in surrounding southeast communities and change as new schools open, so confirm the designated school for any address with the board directly.
Auburn Bay is predominantly detached homes, with townhomes and apartment condominiums concentrated near Auburn Station and along the community's edges. Detached homes were built mainly between 2005 and the late 2010s by several builders, ranging from laned homes on narrower lots to front-attached-garage homes and lakefront properties.
