What to know about Springbank Hill.

01
Where it is and getting around

Springbank Hill runs along Calgary's western boundary between 17 Avenue SW to the north and Glenmore Trail to the south, with 69 Street SW on its east side and the Stoney Trail corridor on its west. The 69 Street LRT station, the western end of the Blue Line, sits inside the community at 17 Avenue and 69 Street with an 840-vehicle park and ride, and puts downtown roughly 25 minutes away by train. Glenmore Trail, 17 Avenue SW, Bow Trail and Stoney Trail give road access in every direction, and the Trans-Canada toward Canmore is a few minutes north.

02
Schools and Ambrose University

Ernest Manning High School (Calgary Board of Education, grades 10 to 12) opened in Springborough in 2011, next to the LRT station. Griffith Woods School (CBE, K-9) on 26 Avenue SW serves Springbank Hill and Discovery Ridge. Rundle College's junior and senior high campus is on 17 Avenue SW a block from the station, and Menno Simons Christian School (K-9) is on Elkton Drive SW. Ambrose University, a private Christian university, has its campus in the community. Designations change; confirm the designated school for an address with the board.

03
Shopping and recreation

The Shoppes at Montreux at 17 Avenue and 85 Street SW and the Springborough Professional Centre cover everyday needs and medical offices. Aspen Landing is immediately north across 17 Avenue; Westhills Towne Centre and Signal Hill Centre, with big-box retail and a cinema, are east along Richmond Road. The Westside Recreation Centre, with pools, arenas and a fitness centre, is beside the 69 Street station. Griffith Woods Park along the Elbow River is at the community's south end.

04
Views and terrain

The community climbs westward from 69 Street, and the higher subdivisions, notably Summit of Montreux and the Slopes, have the foothills and mountain views that the area is known for. Because Springbank Hill is often confused with the rural community of Springbank west of the city limit, check that a listing's address is inside Calgary if city services and property tax matter to you.

05
Housing

Springbank Hill has the widest range of housing of any west-side community: remaining acreage parcels from before annexation, estate homes on large lots, conventional detached homes built from the early 2000s onward, and newer townhome and apartment condominium projects near 17 Avenue and the LRT. New phases are still being released, so both new construction and 20-year-old resale exist side by side. Current listings update live on the MLS® search above.

Sources and notes. Community details are summarised from City of Calgary community profiles, developer and residents'/homeowners' association websites, Calgary Board of Education and Calgary Catholic School District websites, Alberta Health Services, YMCA Calgary and Calgary Transit information; they change over time, so confirm current facts (including any mandatory association fee, and the designated school for a specific address) directly with the source before relying on them. Prices are not stated on this page; current listings and recent sales are in the live MLS® search. This page is general information, not advice about any specific property.

Your REALTOR®

"Springbank Hill is really five or six neighbourhoods under one name. Which subdivision a listing sits in matters more here than in almost any other community in the city."
